New Playwork Training Centre f

The Welsh Assembly Government has announced a £300,000 initiative that will more clearly establish playwork training on the workforce development map in Wales. Jane Hutt, AM, the new Minister for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills, has approved funding for a training centre for playwork education and training.

Play Wales, the national organisation for children’s play, in partnership with SkillsActive, has successfully planned and bid to host the training centre at its national office in Cardiff. Mike Greenaway, Play Wales’ Director says, "We're really excited about this new development for playwork in Wales. Centres like this have been running in England for a number of years providing a wide variety of playwork qualifications and learning programmes. We think it will really change the way we deliver learning for playworkers here, which will ultimately change the quality of experience for children in playwork settings across Wales."
