The Centre for Parliamentary Studies is currently hosting a series of Public Policy Exchange sessions dedicated to examining the future direction of children and youth services. The next session is entitled Turning the 2020 Vision Into Reality: Delivering The Children's Plan for Families and Childcare, which will take place on Wednesday 5th March 2008 at IMechE, One Birdcage Walk, Westminster.
This session will analyse how The Children’s Plan can help to deliver the Government’s stated pledge to “strengthen support for all families during the formative early years of their children’s lives”. Delegates will analyse the plans for extending free childcare provision in the most disadvantaged areas and consider how the success of existing schemes such as Sure Start and the initiatives underpinned by the Childcare Act 2006 can be further enhanced. Furthermore, the debate will explore how stakeholders can improve joined-up working to develop a lasting partnership between Government, Local Authorities and families to ensure that the 2020 vision for children and young people can be fully realised.
