Project Work

Playwork Partnerships at the University of Gloucestershire aims to support playworkers through the identification and attainment of external funding resources that fulfil the overall aims of Playwork Partnerships. To date we have attained funding to successfully run the following projects:

  • Eurochild Project (1995 -1997) - provided training in playwork at a variety of levels to 735 women returners. Total project value £350,000 (funder - ESF)
  • PLEIAD Project (1997 - 2000) - this, the largest ever playwork training project in the south west, was delivered in eight counties and 8,213 playworkers benefited from a variety of training courses and qualifications. Total project value £6 million (funder - ESF)
  • PALM I and II Projects (1998 - 2000) - developed distance learning materials and courses to train playworkers in management. Total project value £330,000 (funder - ESF)
  • PILOT Project (2000 -2001) This project developed and tested out distance learning materials for playworkers at a variety of levels. Total project value £800,000 (funder ESF)
  • EQUIPE Project (2001 - 2005) - a national partnerships project to support childcare based social enterprises. Total project value £4 million. (funder ESF)
  • Wild About Play (2003 - 2004) - developing opportunities for children to play in and around natural environments. Total project value £60,000 (funder Better Play)
  • CWLWM (2004 - 2007) - the CWLWM Partnership is working towards supporting the people of Wales to develop a dynamic, responsive and sustainable childcare sector. Total project value £3 million. (funder ESF)

PLEIAD
PLEIAD (Playwork Education and Information through ADapt) was initially a 2 year project funded by the European Social Fund, ADAPT. The project's aim was to "professionalise" playwork by increasing the training opportunities for playworkers. This was achieved by offering playworkers in the south west of England the chance to access recognised playwork training courses and qualifications free of charge.For further information about the PLEIAD project you can:

PILOT
